Baton Rouge, LA – Students at The Dufrocq School will participate in mock elections Thursday, August 27 for the Crawfish Bayou MicroSociety program. The Dufrocq School is the only school in the state to participate in a MicroSociety program of this kind. The program establishes a student-run community within the school. Thursday, students will vote for executive officers as well as congressional representatives for the nation of Crawfish Bayou.
The students will vote using official voting booths provided by the Louisiana Secretary of State as the culmination of a lively campaign season for offices including president, vice president, secretary and treasurer. Students will also write and deliver campaign speeches to be viewed by the entire student body. Each class will also elect a student representative for the Crawfish Congress.
Elections will be held from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at The Dufrocq School located at 330 S 19th St.
