Northeast High School held its Celebrating a Legacy of Excellence program Friday, February 26 at 9:30 in the school’s gymnasium. This program honored and celebrated the many achievements of Northeast High School, Chaneyville High School, and Pride High School alumni and students.
The school recognized 9 professional football players: Doug Williams, Ruffin Hamilton, III, Trindon Holliday, Felton Huggins, Jr., Johnny Huggins, Jr., Chauncey Hogan, Michael Williams, Henry Dyer, and Leroy Carter. Three professional baseball players: Carl Primus, Jesse Huggins, and Robert Williams. Essie B. Huggins was also recognized as an outstanding basketball player, she continues to hold the girls basketball record.The students crafted hand-made trophy replicas for The Legends to be hung on the football and baseball fields and gymnasium to honor their accomplishments.
Northeast High also received the Top Gains Award for being the most improved in school performance scores. The school went from a score of 66.7 to 79.4.
Northeast High wants all the students and the community to realize how much talent and rich history the school and community has produced. The school wants to encourage students to strive to always do their best because they can accomplish great things like the legends who came before them.
