Diamond Del’s Mining program focuses on educating students about mineral identification and classification through hands-on experience that cannot be replicated in the classroom. Students entered the mobile gem mine, and were each given a mining box of Brazilian mining ore. The students then sluice the ore in water flumes to discover their very own gem collection.
Students experienced an interactive gem mining session, received a fantastic collection of gems and minerals from around the world for each to take home, watched a video presentation that prepares and excites them for their mining experience, completed engaging follow up activities in the classroom, and an exciting day of exploration and education that students will always remember.
