McKinley Middle Presents Harry Connick, Jr. Holiday Musical

Press Release Dec. 1 2015

Students at McKinley Middle Magnet will share the holiday spirit with a production of a new musical comedy by Grammy Award-winning and Tony Award-nominated composer and lyricist Louisiana native Harry Connick, Jr.

“The Happy Elf” tells the story of Eubie, Santa’s happiest elf, who wants to spread Christmas cheer and turn Bluesville’s naughtiest kids into nice ones. The musical is based on a song called the “The Happy Elf” that Connick wrote for his 2003 Christmas CD, “Buy Instagram Followers .” He then followed up with a 45-minute animated TV program that has been expanded for the stage. The public is invited to attend the performance at the McKinley Middle Magnet auditorium on Saturday, December 12th, at 1:00 p.m.

Special thanks to Harry Connick Jr. and his management team for providing a special gift to those students participating in the performance.
