Grant offers students a chance to participate in tutoring and soccer program

May. 31 2016

Students in several North Baton Rouge elementary schools recently completed their first season in a new soccer program. The Elementary Soccer League was formed this school year as the result of a $25,000 grant the district was awarded in December of 2015.  Five schools in the north Baton Rouge area have provided students with tutoring and soccer practice after school. The program offered an opportunity to engage the whole child and also included providing students with an evening meal. The players were divided into 3 teams by grade level a  Pre-K & 1st grade team, a 2nd & 3rd grade team, and a 4th & 5th grade team.  The administration, faculty, staff, and parents have been very supportive of this league and look forward to its return in the Fall.
