EBRPSS to Host Luncheon to Announce Partnership to Enhance Career-Readiness

communication Dec. 14 2021

The East Baton Rouge Parish School System will host a luncheon on Tuesday, Dec. 14, to announce a partnership between the school system, Baton Rouge Community College and various industry leaders aimed at expanding opportunity, access and career readiness for students through the Pathways to Bright Futures initiative.

The luncheon will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Magnolia Building at Baton Rouge Community College. It will be preceded by a press conference at 10:30 a.m. on the second floor of the library. Dr. Sito Narcisse, EBRPSS Superintendent, Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome, and Dr. Willie Smith, Chancellor of BRCC, will be among the speakers at the press conference. The luncheon will be both informative and celebratory, and will include addresses from participants of the current pilot program at Glen Oaks High School, along with industry partners and higher education advocates.

“All stakeholders in the school-to-employment ecosystem must collaborate to build a future where all learners and employers succeed,” said Adam Knapp, president and CEO of the Baton Rouge Area Chamber. “Ensuring awareness of, and access to, meaningful career paths in our community as early in a student’s academic career as possible will bolster the region’s talent pipeline and provide greater opportunities to our young people.”
