During the week of January 15th East Baton Rouge Parish Schools were closed due inclement weather from
Tuesday, 16 th though Thursday, February 18 th . Due to the contingency time built into our district master schedule, schools who were out during this time frame will not need to make up instructional time this semester.
In addition to the entire system closure above, Northeast High School and Northeast Elementary were closed an additional day on Friday, January 19 th , due to an abundance of ice still on the roads in the northern part of the parish. Due to this additional day of closure, those schools will need to make-up additional time to ensure the minimum required instructional minutes are in their schedule this semester. In consultation with the school administrative teams, the district has determined that the move effective way to recuperate the required time will be to have students attend school at those two sites on Friday, March 15th. This day was originally a teacher work day with no students attending school. This plan offers students to gain the required instructional minutes in the most effective option possible.
Transportation and food services will need to run “as normal” on March 15th for the Northeast schools. This should also include students who participate in the “Choice” options and ride transfer buses from out-of-zone locations.
