In just three short years Valencia Wilson, the head coach of Lee Magnet High School’s Girls Basketball team, took a non-existent program and turned it into a championship program.
It is the first girls basketball title for Lee Magnet High and the second time Wilson earned the coveted Coach of the Year award.
A statewide panel of sportswriters selected Wilson after she led the Patriots to a 34-2 record and the Division II select title.
With no seniors on the championship team and a culture of hard work and high expectations established, Wilson will look to repeat history in 2020.
