Dec. 9 2021

In observance of Black History Month, the Office of Graduation Excellence will be hosting the district’s inaugural Black History and Talent Showcase. The Graduation Excellence Black History and Talent Showcase will be an experience for high school students who have demonstrated their commitment to graduation excellence by attending classes regularly, improving course performance, modeling citizenship, completing credit recovery, committing to a college or career, and/or achieving at high academic levels.
The event will serve as an incentive for high school students hence student admission to the event will be determined by the Principal. Students who are selected to attend the showcase by their principal will receive a free ticket and transportation to and from the venue. The event will be held Friday, February 11 from 11 am to 1 pm at Glen Oaks High School in the auditorium. The Graduation Excellence Black History & Talent Showcase will be hosted by Mr. Adonis Reed and Ms. Ashley Williams, educators in East Baton Rouge Parish and will feature guest performances.
High school students across the district are invited to audition after school December 13 through December 16, and January 4 through January 7, from 3:30 pm – 5:30 at Woodlawn HS, McKinley HS, Scotlandville HS, or Broadmoor HS. Students are encouraged to audition at a site closest to their school or home.  Students interested in auditioning should review the audition schedule and register online as audition sites are not available each day during audition windows for every audition site.
