Sherwood Middle School is “where excellence is the standard.” The magnet theme is high school preparatory and college/career readiness. Sherwood provides students with the unique opportunity to build a solid foundation for high school by offering an advanced curriculum with multiple high school credit classes and rigorous electives that help introduce students to future career path options.

Sherwood has much to be proud of. The school was a 2015 Top 25 National Model School; 2017 and 2019 EBRPSS Principal of the Year and Louisiana semifinalist; Blue Ribbon School of Excellence; National Magnet School of Distinction in 2010, 2013, 2016, and 2017; National Magnet School of Excellence in 2011, 2012, and 2014; and is a Recognized ASCA Model Program School. A myriad of unique and interesting electives are available for students including forensic science, pre-law, drama, robotics, marine science, male chorus, advanced movement and dance, advanced ballet, video editing, art, band, piano, orchestra, choir, PE, and yearbook. Sherwood has a wide variety of extracurricular choices. Included are 4-H, yout legislature, Junior Beta, National Junior Honor Society, Student Council, Debate, Young Astronauts, Total Techies, Yoga, Fashion Design, Motion Pictures, Zumba, Future Starts, Ukulele, Lego Architecture, Bon Appetit, and Teens Going Green. Students are also able to participate in track and field, cheer, soccer, basketball, volleyball, swim, and dance.
