Challenging and Curriculum

Students in these accelerated classes embed the STEM design process throughout the curriculum, allowing for increased project-based and problem-solving learning opportunities. A school learning garden is now a reality thanks to the campus-wide STEM program and the dedicated neighborhood civic association members who have partnered with Magnolia Woods. The school is excited to announce that two teachers were awarded an ExxonMobil STEM grant to integrate STEM into physical education classes. Creativity comes to Magnolia Woods students in the form of strong choir, strings, and art curriculums. Third, fourth, and fifth graders have been chosen to perform with the EBR Parish elementary choir. A strings teacher works with students on a weekly basis, and students have the opportunity to participate in Kids’ Orchestra. Boys and Girls Club hosts an after-school care program and summer camp. Volunteers in Public Schools (VIPS) members share their time building academic and relationship skills as Reading Friends and Math Buddies.
